RecordingPRO

File recording capabilities, storage media, file systems and operational guidance.

Overview

Recording captures the outbound (or selected) stream simultaneously to local or attached storage for archival or post-production.

Storage Media

MediumNotes
USB storage (flash / HDD)Portable, easy transfer
Internal HDD (rack option)Continuous recording + automation (FTP sync, network share)
NAS / RAID (via network share)*For extended retention (*if supported)

Supported File Systems

Formatting possible via display or web UI.

Containers

ContainerExtensionUse Case
MPEG-TS.tsBroadcast workflows, continuous splitting
FLV.flvLegacy web streaming compatibility
(Optional) Others.mp4 / .mkvFirmware / licensing dependent

File Segmentation

Default rollover at 1GB; adjustable path & segment size via web interface.

Activation

  • Display/keypad: Start/Stop recording menu (global).
  • Web interface: Recording controls.
  • External control surface (e.g., Stream Deck) if integrated.

Naming

Files named with start timestamp to ensure chronological sorting.

Metrics

MetricMeaning
Current filesizeGrowth monitoring
Disk space remainingStorage headroom
Write bitrateSustained throughput

Best Practices

  • Use internal disk for automated workflows (FTP sync) to avoid accidental removal.
  • Monitor disk space from ISS (if exposed) or periodically via UI.
  • Choose TS for resilience (partial file recoverability) during abrupt power loss.
