RecordingPRO
File recording capabilities, storage media, file systems and operational guidance.
Overview
Recording captures the outbound (or selected) stream simultaneously to local or attached storage for archival or post-production.
Storage Media
| Medium | Notes |
|---|---|
| USB storage (flash / HDD) | Portable, easy transfer |
| Internal HDD (rack option) | Continuous recording + automation (FTP sync, network share) |
| NAS / RAID (via network share)* | For extended retention (*if supported) |
Supported File Systems
| File System | OS Compatibility | Max File Size |
|---|---|---|
| FAT32 | Win / macOS / Linux | 4GB |
| NTFS | Windows / Linux | >4GB |
| ext3 | Linux | >4GB |
Formatting possible via display or web UI.
Containers
| Container | Extension | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| MPEG-TS | .ts | Broadcast workflows, continuous splitting |
| FLV | .flv | Legacy web streaming compatibility |
| (Optional) Others | .mp4 / .mkv | Firmware / licensing dependent |
File Segmentation
Default rollover at 1GB; adjustable path & segment size via web interface.
Activation
- Display/keypad: Start/Stop recording menu (global).
- Web interface: Recording controls.
- External control surface (e.g., Stream Deck) if integrated.
Naming
Files named with start timestamp to ensure chronological sorting.
Metrics
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Current filesize | Growth monitoring |
| Disk space remaining | Storage headroom |
| Write bitrate | Sustained throughput |
Best Practices
- Use internal disk for automated workflows (FTP sync) to avoid accidental removal.
- Monitor disk space from ISS (if exposed) or periodically via UI.
- Choose TS for resilience (partial file recoverability) during abrupt power loss.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Recording option missing | No storage detected | Verify media attachment & file system |
| Frequent file rollovers | Low segment size setting | Increase segment threshold |
| Playback glitches | Media throughput limits | Use faster storage / reduce bitrate |
